Geotechnical and Surface Water management specialist

Position : Geotechnical and Surface Water management specialist

Base : Site base with schedule 6 weeks on - 2 weeks off

Key Responsibilities;

1. Complete and review open pit stability and geotechnical design assessment for operating mines and studies from conceptual stage to closure.
2. Derive material parameters from drilling and laboratory testing data and assess geological, hydrogeological and structural information to formulate geotechnical models
3. Conduct stability analysis and provide geotechnical design recommendation for open pit, open cast, waste dump, limonite dump, scapolite dump, road and other platforms.
4. Conduct hydrology analysis and provide geotechnical expertise for dewatering such as ; open drain, under drain, rock wall , sump , sediment pond and drill & blast.
5. Developing and reviewing geotechnical guidelines, management plans and procedures
6. Undertaking field work to collect relevant information for the use in geotechnical analysis
7. Managing periodic inspections and reporting
8. Liaise with external consultants and project design studies to ensure fit for purpose design Recommendations are provided and projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualification;

1. Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, civil engineering
2. Atleast five years of geotechnical engineering experience
3. Geotechnical mining experience on large-scale, open-cut or Open Cast operations is mandatory.
4. Laterite Nickel mining experience is prefer but not mandatory
5. Proficiency with mine planning and mine design software (e.g. Surpac)
6. Experience working with 2D geotechnical analysis software (e.g Rocscience , Slope/W)
7. Knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements
8. have excellent writing skills, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve
